🍷 I. New arrivals – Domaine Philippe Garrey
フィリップ・ガレイは、メルキュレイとブゼロンに4.5ヘクタールの畑を持つ職人気質ワインメーカーである。彼のドメーヌは、2011年にコート・シャロネーズ全域で初めてビオディナミ認証を取得しました。
私たちは、ブルゴーニュのトップイヤーと謳われる2019年のワインを入手しました。また、2018年は温暖でパワフルな年であり、これらのワインは今飲み頃を迎えつつあります。

Philippe Garrey is an artisanal winemaker, working 4.5 hectares in Mercurey and Bouzeron. His domaine was the first in the entire Côte Chalonnaise to receive biodynamic certification (2011).
We recently imported several 2019 wines, a year heralded as a top year in Burgundy. We also have several 2018s, a warm but generous year, and these wines are entering their drinking window.
Philippe’s wines represent assured quality at an affordable price point in Burgundy.

1. Bouzeron ‘Les Clous’ – 2018 and 2019 available

▶︎ブゼロンの小さな、でもとても良い区画(0.3ha)から。軽いミネラルの香り、新鮮な花やリンゴ/柑橘類の要素が多く、素敵な飲み口です。シャルドネとは全く違う、でも同じくらい素晴らしいワインです。ぜひ試してみてください。- 失望することはないでしょう。
アリゴテとブゼロンに関する注意：古くからあるアリゴテという品種は、19世紀にはブルゴーニュの有名な白ワインの畑のほとんどで広く栽培されていました。フィロキセラの被害を受けた後、ブルゴーニュのほとんどの地域で軽視され、ほとんどの植え替えはシャルドネで行われた。ブゼロンは例外で、アリゴテに焦点を当てたアイデンティティを維持する唯一の村であった。

▶︎ From a tiny but very good parcel (0.3 ha) in Bouzeron. A light mineral nose, with lots of fresh flowers and apple/citrus elements, a lovely drink. Quite different from Chardonnay, and yet equally wonderful. Try it! – you won’t be disappointed.
Note on Aligoté and Bouzeron: the ancient Aligoté cultivar was widespread in most of the famous Burgundy white wine vineyards in the 19th century. It was neglected in most areas of Burgundy after the devastation of phylloxera, when most replanting was done with Chardonnay. Bouzeron was the notable exception, the sole village to maintain an identity focused on Aligoté.
Bouzeron finally got its own AOC designation defined around Aligoté in 1997, building on the efforts of Aubert de Villaine of DRC fame, a great devotee of this variety. Now Aligoté is becoming more visible under an association of vignerons nicknamed ‘Les Aligoteurs’ – and getting a lot of attention.

▶︎ Clos des Boilles is from a single vineyard (lieu dit) across the street from the designated Mercurey appellation. For that – and no other reason – it is classified as a Bourgogne Rouge! Herbal nose, developing into red fruits with spicy notes.

11. Le Camin 2019（orange vin nature – IGP Pays d’Oc）

▶︎ 古木のヴィオニエが、硫黄を添加しないカルボニック・マセラシオンで醸造された誇り高い逸品。ドリュウム（アンフォラの一種）とアカシアの木の樽で育てられています。深みのある金色で、スキンコンタクトによって深みを増していますが、タンニンの痕跡は残っていません。凝縮感があり、フレッシュでフルーティ、花のアロマが際立ちます。5～10年以上の熟成が可能です。2000本のみの限定生産。
▶︎ Old vines Viognier in all its glory, using carbonic maceration and no added sulphur. Raised partly in dolium (a type of amphora) and partly in acacia wood barrels. Deep gold color, skin contact adds depth but leaves no tannic footprint. Concentrated, fresh, and fruity, pronounced floral aromas. Can be aged 5-10+ years. Only 2000 bottles produced.

With pronounced rose petal and spicy aromas, it is mineral with red fruits on the palate. And it can be aged – 5 years or more! Only 2400 bottles produced.

▶︎ The top red produced by Famille Fabre, La Serre is a single ‘lieu dit’ in the recognized Boutenac designation. Blend of old vines Carignan, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, 15 months in French oak for the Syrah and Mourvèdre, and several months in amphora for the Carignan. Intense nose of spices and floral aromas gives way to a rich palate with black fruits, spices, and complex tannins. Aging potential: 10+ years. Only 3300 bottles produced.

🍷 III. Roussillon wines from Domaine Singla

Domaine Singla is a very old family estate, dating to 1760, brought under organic viticulture by the current owner Laurent de Besombes Singla. Coming from the French part of Catalonia, these wines often have Catalan names. Most feature a principal variety such as Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, or Mourvèdre.
Domaine Singla also has a top quality library of old Rivesaltes fortified wines, a tradition that dates back 700 years. The Rivesaltes Ambré wines are excellent – similar to aged Tawny Ports, but with more primary fruit character, and a lighter alcohol concentration.

▶︎ Means ‘windmill’ in Catalan. Dominated by Syrah with a bit of Grenache from low yielding old vines. Bits of garrigue spices on a nice fruit background, very easy to drink and flexible with virtually any type of Mediterranean cuisine.

▶︎Means ‘the mountain’. From another hill on a steep slope, principally from Mourvèdre grapes. A different soil type to the stonier soils, mostly limestone and pebbles. Probably the darkest color of all, almost black. This wine is a premium selection, kept in Allier barrels for 24 months, analogous to a Spanish Reserva.
22. ‘Les Quatres Vents’ AOC Côtes du Roussillon-Villages 2013

This wine is another premium Reserva-type selection, from old Carignan vines. Characteristic pepper and garrigue spice on the nose and palate, very expressive of this region.

▶︎The top premium wine of the estate. Approximately 1,000 bottles made only in top years from the best selections of the best barrels. Roughly equivalent to a Spanish Gran Reserva. The blend is 75% Syrah / 25% Grenache Noir, yielding a very fruity wine with notable spices, combining strength and finesse.
● ‘Rivesaltes ambré’ fortified wines＊リヴザルト アンブレ 酒精強化ワイン
Made from white grapes Grenache Blanc and Macabeu, these fortified wines are exposed to oxygen and to the elements to give them their characteristic amber color. Aged in both wooden barrels and glass demijohns (Dame-Jeannes) for years – or even decades – to bring them to perfection.
Please note that stock of these wines is quite limited. A few older vintages going back to the 1930s and 1940s are available upon private inquiry.
